Slietz Watershed Council Meeting

The Siletz Watershed Council will be holding their quarterly community meeting on Tuesday, December 18th at 6:30 p.m. at the Siletz Public Library (255 S Gaither St, Siletz).

At the meeting, two employees of the Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District will discuss ongoing and upcoming work in the Siletz Basin. Emily-Bell Dinan, Conservation Program Coordinator, and Josh Seekatz, Watershed Health Technician, will be available to answer any questions people may have.

Every two years, the Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District chooses an area to focus its efforts to improve water quality, soil productivity, and habitat. The Siletz Watershed was chosen as the 2017-2019 Focus Area and through the Oregon Department of Agriculture, funding is available to offer technical assistance to residents and landowners along the Siletz River. Starting in January 2019, the Siletz Watershed Council wants to hear from you about needs, challenges, and interests in natural resource conservation. Moreover, in cooperation with the Lincoln County Department of Environmental Health, a proposal was submitted to carry out a two-year pilot connecting with rural well-users to test water quality, provide education opportunities on domestic well stewardship, and hear what community needs are around drinking water resources.
