The "sudden oak death" phenomenon, caused by a plant pathogen, has been devastating oaks and other trees in Oregon and California (and elsewhere in the worldas well), and deviling forest managers. Learn about early detection of sudden oak death using buckets and stream baits in a workshop for citizen scientists on Jan. 23 from 5:30-8 p.m, at the Curry County Extension Office (29390 Ellensburge Ave., which is also Hwy 101) in Gold Beach. This event is co-sponsored by Oregon State University Extension, Wild Rivers Coast Forest Collaborative, and Oregon Department of Forestry.
