In normal winters, we would be fast approaching Whale Watch Week, and State Parks’ Whale Watching Spoken Here program would be gearing up.  But it is 2020, we’re back to a coronavirus “freeze,” and there will be no public whale-oriented activities this year.  At least, there won’t be any out on the shore, but the American Cetacean Society—Oregon Chapter is filling the gap with an online talk.

The speaker will be Era Horton, an ACS-certified naturalist and member of the Oregon Chapter (not to mention a CoastWatcher).  He will present “Cetaceans off the Oregon Coast.”  In addition to the gray whale migration which should be passing our shoreline by then, he will describe the other whales, dolphins, and porpoises found off the Oregon coast.

The event is free and open to all.  To register and receive the link and password, go here.
