Talk on Abalone
Ann Vileisis is not only president of the Kalmiopsis Audubon Society in Curry County, she is also a well-known author of books on natural history and other subjects. On Thursday, Oct. 26, at 5:30 p.m., she will give a talk and slide presentation based on her most recent book, Abalone: the remarkable history and uncertain future of California’s iconic shellfish.
The event takes place at Curry Public Library in Gold Beach (94341 3rd St.), which is also co-sponsoring. It is free and open to all.
She promises to talk about Oregon abalone, too. The story of abalone is an important West Coast conservation story, with relevance for thinking about how we conserve marine life into the future.
