At their next meeting, Thursday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m., the Columbia River Estuary Action Team (CREATe) will host a speaker on spraying and other forest practices inimical to humans, wildlife, and ecosystems.  The meeting takes place at Astoria’s Blue Scorcher Café (1493 Duane St.).

The speaker will be architect Tom Bender, a well-known advocate for sustainability, appropriate  technology, and conservation policies.  A founder and editor of the pioneering Rain Magazine for many years, he is a long-time Manzanita resident who specializes in green architecture and sustainable economics.
