A CoastWatch-sponsored public talk on Friday, January 6, 6:30 p.m. at Tillamook Bay Community College (4301 3rd St. in Tillamook), Room 214, will serve as a prelude to the final round of the winter’s King Tide Project.
Julie Sepanik, a NOAA Coastal Fellow with Oregon's Department of Land Conservation and Development, will speak on her research into the impact sea level rise is likely to have on Oregon's estuaries and their resources. (The King Tide Project, which documents the reach of the highest tides of the year, provides a preview of what will be the “new normal” with future sea level rise.) Fawn Custer, our CoastWatch volunteer coordinator, will kick things off with a discussion of the King Tide Project and how to participate, with Sepanik speaking at 7 p.m.
