Geologist Bob Lillie will present "Plate Tectonics and the Landscapes of the Pacific Northwest" on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center (2400 Hwy 101, about three miles south of Yachats).  His lecture is part of the Cape Perpetua Speaker Series.

Dr. Lillie is an Oregon State University professor who specializes in geophysics, tectonics, public interpretation, and geology of national parks. Plate tectonics are the fundamental earth process that cause continents to pull apart and collide, creating such events as the anticipated Cascadian subduction zone earthquake, aka "the Big One."
