Talks on Yaquina Bay
The MidCoast Watersheds Council (MCWC) offers two speakers on the Yaquina Bay estuary at its September 7 community meeting. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center (333 S.E. Bay Blvd.) in Newport. It is free and open to all.
Speaking on the past and present of conservation efforts for the estuary will be Cheryl Horton, MCWC estuary program manager; Michael Moses, the estuarine resilience coordinator for the state’s Department of Land Conservation and Development; and Megan Hoff, senior planner with Lincoln County. They will discuss both the ongoing changes to the Yaquina Bay Estuary Management Plan. They will also discuss upcoming marsh restoration work in the Yaquina estuary funded by the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board (OWEB), the Estuary Resilience Planning Process (ERAP) that is slated to begin this fall in Lincoln County. These short presentations
will be followed by a panel discussion, with plenty of time for Q&A.
