Veva Stansell Tribute Weekend
Siskiyou Field Institute will sponsor a series of workshops in honor of renowned botanist Veva Stansell, in collaboration with Kalmiopsis Audubon. There will be a free presentation on Friday night at Pistol River Friendship Hall about Veva, her influence, and the proposed Veva Stansell Botanical Area by Ann Vileisis, Cliff Stansell and Lee Webb (with music and light refreshments served), and then exciting field workshops thru the weekend, including a botany field trip and botanical sketching class with well-known botanist and botanical illustrator Linda Ann Vorobik (see more about Linda here: http://www.vorobikbotanicalart.com); a workshop about photographing wildflowers with retired Forest Service biologist Lee Webb; and a field trip focused on the ecology of the Pistol River estuary with ecologist Larry Basch. And veteran tripleader and wildflower enthusiast Al Collinet will help lead some of the wildflower field trips. These SFI workshops cost $60, or $110 for 2 workshops. All workshops start and end at Pistol River Friendship Hall.
