Webinar on Nature-based Resilience
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) hosts a series of webinars known as the “Ideation Hour.” An online discussion coming up on Wednesday, June 28, at 10 a.m. (our time), may be of particular interest to those concerned with how to plan for long-term resilience of coastal communities. The webinar concerns “Nature-based solutions,” which weave natural features and processes into a community’s built environment through planning, design, and engineering practices.
The webinar is hosted by FEMA’s Resilient Nation Partnership Network. It explores how equity, public health considerations, and risk reduction can help build resilience through nature-based solutions. During the discussion, breakout rooms will discuss the characteristics of a resilient community; the challenges to achieving community resilience; and who needs to be part of the solution--some innovative partnerships that would strengthen resilience planning
Ideation Hours are a way for participants to freely share ideas, foster connections and pursue collaborative opportunities on a pre-determined topic. This freestyle event is open to everyone and encourages participants to bring their best resilience ideas and projects to the table. The RNPN has representation from over 1,600 organizations.
