The Westwind Stewardship Group is once again sponsoring the annual Welcome the Salmon Home festival.  It takes place on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 1-5 p.m., at Camp Westwind on the Salmon River spit.  To reach this isolated and beautiful location, go to Knight Park (2341 Three Rocks Rd.) on the north bank of the salmon, and catch one of the ferries leaving every half-hour.  The event is free and open to all; a $10 donation is requested.

CoastWatch is joining in to play a role.  Fawn Custer, our volunteer coordinator, will be leading a series of citizen science demonstration activities during the day.

In addition, the event will feature Salmon River estuary boat tours, Gyotaku printmaking and other art explorations, an open-fire salmon bake tasting and other refreshments, and an assortment of other fun, family-friendly activities.
