World Oceans Day Beachwalk

To celebrate World Oceans Day, CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator Fawn Custer will lead a walk at Seal Rock State Park, taking advantage of the minus tide that morning.  Participants will explore the tidepools and driftline and learn about opportunities to contribute to coastal citizen science projects.  Marine debris is one of the great threats to the ocean, and is a major focus of World Oceans Day, so our marine debris monitoring project will be one focus.

If the weather is suitable, meet Fawn at the state park parking lot at 8 a.m.  Come dressed for the weather, and for clambering over the rocky shores.

If we have bad luck with the weather, meet her instead at the Seal Rock Garden Club, 10377 N.W. Rand St. (next to the Seal Rock fire station), also at 8 a.m.  She will provide an introduction to citizen science and shoreline ecology where it is warm and dry, before hardy souls venture out into the wet to visit the shoreline.
