Cape Perpetua Volunteer Appreciation.
This annual event, celebrating the accomplishments of volunteer citizen science projects, docents and interpretive staff within Cape Perpetua area, is taking place again this year, with careful covid protocols. It will be held outside at the Yachats Commons Picnic Pavilion (441 Hwy 101 N. in Yachats), 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26. The event is free, but registration is required. (Plans could change due to weather or pandemic—registration will help to assure notification in such a circumstance.)
The event is open to all current, prospective and newly committed volunteers engaging in agency, community groups or NGO efforts within the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve and Marine Protected Areas in addition to adjacent special management areas activities. CoastWatch mile adopters and citizen science project participants would be included, along with Cape Perpetua Visitors Center and trail docents, whale watch volunteers, Surfrider, Audubon, USFS, OPRD, ODFW and any other group or agency working in this area.
There will be some brief updates on developing partnership work at Cape Perpetua, and information about a variety of projects that take place in the area. Food and drink will be provided—select a meal option when registering.
As a covid consideration, meals will be served box-lunch style rather than from a buffet. The event is outside. Hand sanitizer will be available.
