More than three years ago, at the request of Oregon Shores, the state began considering revisions to its Territorial Sea Plan (TSP), which puts statewide land use planning Goal 19 into action. As we argued at the time, the portions of the TSP relating to protecting rocky shore areas had not been updated since the mid-90s and were well out of date.
After a long process that involved the Ocean Policy Advisory Council (which appointed a special working group to address this), Oregon’s Land Conservation and Development Commission (LCDC) is about to consider the result, the Rocky Habitat Management Strategy (which is officially embodied in amendments to Part Three of the TSP). LCDC will vote on these amendments at a meeting on Thursday, March 31, beginning at 3 p.m.
The public is invited to comment on the plan (the proposed amendments). A draft of the proposed rules and fiscal statements can be found here and at https://www.oregonocean.info/. To comment in writing by March 31, write to:
