Bandon History and Beach Hike

The South Coast Striders are leading an educational hike through the town and beaches of Bandon on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. This hike will start at the Bandon Historical Society Museum and tour the waterfront and Old Town before heading to the beach.
The hike will be a moderate four-mile hike lasting about 2.5-3 hours. Hikers should dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared to spend time walking on the sand. The hike will be led by archaeologist and historian Reg Pullen. Mary Schamehorn,Bandon’s mayor, will join for part of the tour. A faster-paced version of the hike will be led by Historical Society volunteer and Treasurer Jim Proehl.
After the hike concludes, participants are welcome to visit the Bandon Historical Society Museum free of charge. Hikers will meet at 10 a.m. in the Public Parking lot of the Bandon Historical Museum (270 Fillmore St.); additional parking is available behind the Face Rock Creamery.
