Emerald Ash Borer Field Training
Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District, Oregon State University, and Clean Water Services are hosting a free field training at Joseph Gale Park (3014 18th Avenue in Forest Grove) to assemble a trusted pool of partners to help limit the spread of the invasive emerald ash borer (EAB). If you cannot attend in person, an online version of this free training is available here.
In late June, the Oregon Department of Forestry and Oregon Department of Agriculture determined an ailing Oregon ash tree at Joseph Gale Elementary School in Forest Grove was home to the first confirmed infestation of EAB in Oregon and the entire West Coast. EAB is considered the most destructive forest pest in North America and could cause the local extinction of Oregon’s native ash species. Learning to monitor and slow the spread of EAB supports the state's response to the EAB.
These trainings are open to all. Those who live or work in close proximity to Oregon ash trees are strongly encouraged to participate.
