A CoastWatch orientation beachwalk will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, at Governor Patterson State Park (1770 SW Pacific Coast Hwy) in Waldport. This event will take place from 12-1 p.m.

This will be a chance for new CoastWatchers to brush up on their observational skills, longer-term mile adopters to get a refresher course, and the CoastWatch-curious to learn about the program. All are welcome to this free event, but registration is required.

Jesse Jones, CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator, will lead this orientation. She will share information about CoastWatch: what to observe while walking a mile, what to bring along, how to fill out a CoastWatch report, and which citizen and community science projects are available to volunteers in the area. She will discuss shoreline natural history and much more about the Oregon coastline.

Beachside State Park is located a few miles south of Waldport, off Highway 101. This is CoastWatch Mile 198. Please dress for the weather and bring water and snacks. Parking is available in the north lot, we will meet all participants there.

Register here to reserve your place.
