The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is responsible for ensuring that effects on the natural and human environment are taken into consideration during the leasing and development of oil, natural gas, renewable energy and marine mineral resources on the on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).  This has become a much more significant concern in the wake of the election, with a fossil-fuel-friendly new administration.  Citizens are invited to submit their views on development in federal waters by December 30.  Send comments to Dr. Ann Bull, Pacific Studies Chief, Ann.Bull@BOEM.gov, (805) 384-6385.
