The upcoming NANOOS (Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems) workshop has added a public lecture. See separate listing for information about the workshop.
Dr. Burke Hales, a professor in Oregon State University’s College of Earth, Ocean, Atmospheric Sciences, will be giving a public science presentation: "What Drives Estuarine Acidification?"
Hales' talk takes place on Thursday, July 13, 4:30-5:30 p.m., in the auditorium of the Hatfield Marine Science Center (2030 S.E. Marine Science Dr.) in Newport’s South Beach area.
Hales, an expert in biochemical oceanography, is a well-known researcher into the chemical changes in ocean and, in this case, estuarine waters that leads to acidification.
