Lincoln County Community Rights is hosting a full day devoted to forest issues, featuring a film, informal discussion, and presentation. It takes place 9:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. in the Yachats Commons (441 Hwy 101 N.).  Chuck Willer of the Coast Range Association will discuss his recent work on corporate ownership of forests in Oregon and explain how timber corporations dodge paying their taxes that fund public services, and how we can challenge that.

Willer is spending the entire day in Yachats, to allow time to talk to area residents, share resources Coast Range has available, and show the award winning film Behind the Emerald Curtain at 10 a.m. in Room 8.  At 2 p.m. he will lead an informal discussion of Oregon Forest issues, and at 6 p.m. the public is invited to hear Willer's presentation, "Challenging Wall Street Forestry," a wake-up call to action. Members of the public are invited to drop in during the day and meet Chuck and ask questions, review his displays, and take home some reading material.

Lincoln County Community Rights will be participating during the day, meeting with area residents and providing updates about the County Law that bans aerial biocide spraying in the county. They will be there to provide information and show short video segments relevant to community rights action and coming events.  They also welcome Lane County peers who are gathering signatures for initiatives to get on the ballot in 2018 to ban aerial herbicide use in Lane County and for support of local governance through community rights law.
