The 2017-2018 King Tide Project has come down to its final day—the last day in the last highest-high-tide sequence of the winter.  Which means last chance to contribute to this citizen science project, through which volunteer photographers document the reach of these highest tides to show where current infrastructure is vulnerable to flooding and, most important, preview the impacts of sea level rise.

There is still time not only to participate, but, if you are anywhere near Netarts, to meet up with other participants and get some guidance in how to find a good location and take photos that will be most valuable.  CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator Fawn Custer invites you to join her for a King Tide warm-up from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, at Seaworthy Coffee and Gifts (1355 Phelps Ave.) in Netarts.  Enjoy coffee, tea and baked goods (no host), while learning the ropes and perhaps joining forces with other volunteers for teamwork.  High tide is at 1:28 p.m., so you will want to leave in time to get to your desired location.

For more information, contact Fawn Custer at (541) 270-0027, fawn@oregonshores.org.
