CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator Fawn Custer will lead a guided tidepool walk on an excellent minus-1.88-ft. tide. Meet her at 3 p.m. at the Northwest parking lot at Otter Rock. The group will then venture down the beach on the north side of Devils Punchbowl.
Fawn will lead an exploration of the tidepools, then provide a general “CoastWatch Clinic,” providing instruction on CoastWatch monitoring techniques and answering any and all questions.
The group will also perform a marine debris survey and receive training in this citizen science project conducted by CoastWatch.
The event will last about two hours. In case of overly severe weather, the event will take place indoors, in which case Fawn will bring specimens and a PowerPoint with which to discuss the organisms that can be found on the beach and in tidepools; she will also bring snacks. In this event, join Fawn in the education yurt at Beverly Beach State Park.
For more information, or to check on location if the weather is threatening, contact Fawn Custer at (541) 270-0027, fawn@oregonshores.org.
