The Oregon Parks and Recreation Commission, which governs State Parks, will hold its next meeting on the central coast, giving coastal residents a chance to make comments to the commission and learn more about the issues they are considering.  The meeting takes place over two days, Tuesday, April 17 and Wednesday, April 18.

On the first day, the commission will tour Cape Kiwanda and the new Sitka Sedge State Natural Area.  The tour begins at 8 a.m., leaving from the Surftides (2945 N.W. Jetty Ave.) in Lincoln City.  Members of the public are welcome to follow along, using their own transportation, giving them the chance to interact with commission members during the field trip.  After the tour, the commission will head to the Kiawanda Community Center (34600 Cape Kiwanda Dr.) in Pacific City, for lunch at noon and an afternoon session, during which acquisition strategy among other topics will be discussed.

On Wednesday, the public portion of the commission meeting begins at 9:30 a.m.  The open public comment period takes place immediately after the initial introduction and a few business matters, so be on time if you want to address the commission.  The agenda for the remainder of the day includes various matters of potential interest, including ATV regulation and the Oregon Coast Trail.
