Fear, hope, and climate change will be the topic of a public dialogue offered by 350.org on Wednesday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Newport Public Library (35 N.W. Nye St.).

The subject will be the exciting times we live in, frightening due to climate disruption and the wave of extinctions it could cause, but also hopeful, because the same humanity that brought this peril to the earth through its lifestyle choices is now in some places very actively doing something about it. In great numbers around the globe people are coming forward to speak truth to power and act responsibly in behalf of all life now and in the future.

This community dialogue on human rights and climate change is free and open to all. It will be led by Dr. Tom Kerns, director of Environment and Human Rights Advisory, on the steering group of the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal Session on Human Rights, Fracking and Climate Change, and professor emeritus of philosophy at North Seattle College. The entire community is invited, all ages, all races, all genders and all beliefs, in the spirit of unity.
