Redfish Rocks on the Dock
The Port Orford fishing community, resource agency representatives and scientific researchers, conservation group members and the interested public all mingle at the annual Redfish Rocks on the Dock festivity. On Saturday, June 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Port Orford dock, visitors have the chance to scarf free hot dogs, tour fishing vessels and meet their captains (from noon to 2 p.m.), learn about the nearby marine reserve and the research taking place there, investigate opportunities to participate in citizen science, and more. Music will be provided by the Port Orford Heads.
CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator Fawn Custer will be there to lead an intertidal field trip at 1:30 p.m. She’ll also have an information table. If you know people who might be interested in CoastWatch, this would be a chance to bring them by to discuss the possibility with Fawn.
Free kayak tours will also be offered. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP—contact Dave Lacy at (541) 373-0487 or dave@southcoasttours.net.
