Evening in Park at Yaquina Head
CoastWatchers and others involved as volunteers with programs educating about natural areas are invited to an “Evening in the Park” at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area (750 N.W. Lighthouse Dr., at the north end of Newport) on Friday, July 13, beginning at 6 p.m. and running through sunset. Admission is free to CoastWatchers and volunteers and employees of Friends of Yaquina Lights, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, OMSI, State Parks, and federal resource agency employees (including those with the Bureau of Land Management, which manages Yaquina Head). Just let the people at the gate know you are with CoastWatch. (The Yaquina Head staff have adopted a CoastWatch mile, which makes CoastWatch a Park Partner.)
From 6-7 p.m. there will be a social hour at the Yaquina Head Interpretive Center with light refreshments. From 7 until sunset, explore the tidepools and take special lighthouse tours. Then everyone will wind up by watching the sunset.
An RSVP would be appreciated, although not essential if you decide to attend at the last moment. Contact Meredith Matherly, education program coordinator at Yaquina Head, (541) 574-3122, mmatherly@blm.gov, to RSVP or for more information.
