CoastWatch has conducted a sea star survey at a site at Yachats State Park for several years now. Karen Heere, who has led the team conducting the survey, needs to step down. CoastWatcher Tara DuBois, who also serves as communications coordinator for the Cape Perpetua Area Collaborative, and stepped in to organize the survey for the site. Volunteers are needed for a newly reconstituted team.
The next survey is coming up on Monday, July 16, beginning at 9 a.m. Meet at the wooden platform on Oceanview Drive (north of the river in Yachats) and the group will head down to survey site together.
A windproof jacket and shoes for walking on rocks and possibly getting wet are recommended. Instruction and survey equipment will be provided.
