Marine Reserves Underwater Tour Presentation
Go on a virtual underwater tour of Oregon’s five marine sites to explore the work being done at the Cape Falcon site by ODFW and their many collaborators at the next Lower Nehalem Watershed Council speaker event on October 11th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m at the Pine Grove Community House (225 Laneda Ave, Manzanita).
This presentation will be lead by Cristen Don, the Marine Reserves Program Leader for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. You will get to take a virtual underwater tour of Oregon's five marine reserves with a special focus on Cape Falcon. Conservation and scientific research are the goals of Oregon's marine reserve system.
This event will also include an opportuntiy to give input to the ODFW pertaining to the development of the Cape Falcon Marine Reserve site management plan in the next 6 months. What about the reserve or the research there is most interesting to community members? How can ODFW best keep local communities in the know? ODFW is also looking for activities and projects of interest to local communities to implement in the Cape Falcon Marine Reserve in addition to ODFW’s projects. By highlighting the communities’ interests in the management plan, ODFW hopes to attract additional research and resources to foster community led projects.
