As part of a series of “bioblitzes” being held this spring and summer at Oregon’s marine reserves, a bioblitz is planned for Cape Perpetua for Saturday, July 6, beginning at 9:30 a.m.  Lead organizer is the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve Area Collaborative.  The Oregon Coast Aquarium is partnering with other organizations to coordinate the bioblitzes.  For more information, visit: www.aquarium.org/bioblitz.

Volunteers are needed to survey and catalogue the species of the shore adjacent to the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve.  Meet at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center (2400 Hwy 101, about three miles south of Yachats).  There is no charge, and anyone can participate and help.

To get most effectively involved, download the iNaturalist app (https://www.inaturalist.org/). This is a useful tool that enables any observer of the natural world, of any skill level, to contribute information to a vast national database. This is the method by which participants will contribute to the data gathered during the bioblitz.

Dress for the weather and bring your spotting scope/binoculars, water and snacks.

It would be helpful to RSVP to Tara Dubois at capeperpetuacommunications@gmail.com to let them know you plan to participate.
