Biologist Stewart Reid will give a talk on the lamprey, an ancient creature, neither fish nor eel, that inhabits coastal watersheds and holds great cultural significance for Native Americans.  His talk, discussing their anadromous life cycle and their roles in riverine ecosystems, will take place on Friday, Aug. 23, 6:30 p.m., at the Curry Public Library (94341 3rd St.) in Gold Beach.  Sponsored by the Curry Watersheds Partnership and Arch Rock Brewing, the talk is free and open to all.
