Workshop on Visitor Use

The coast may depend on visitors economically, but environmentally, tourism can have a major impact.  The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is sponsoring a workshop on “Managing Visitor Use in Coastal and Marine Protected Areas” on Oct. 16 (beginning at 8:30 a.m.) and Oct. 17 (ending at 4:30 p.m.) at the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve visitor center (61907 Seven Devils Rd.).  Cost is $30, including lunch both days.

In this workshop, learn how to apply a step-by-step process to a visitor use issue of your choosing to identify and address unacceptable visitor-use impacts, maintain healthy resource conditions, and ensure high-quality visitor experiences.  The workshop is primarily aimed at coastal and natural resources managers, planners, supervisors and staff who manage public lands, waters and protected natural, cultural or historic areas, but anyone concerned about tourism impact issues can attend.
