Sudden Oak Death Workshop
To learn more about a plant disease affecting south coast forests, attend “What’s New in Sudden Oak Death Research?”, a workshop led by Everett Hansen taking place on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 6-8:30 p.m., at the Pistol River Friendship Hall (24252 Carpenterville Rd.). Dr. Hansen will discuss the success of Sudden Oak Death (SOD) control efforts, and provide information about citizen science projects to help with early SOD detection and the search for a disease resistant tanoak. The talk is sponsored by Oregon State Extension, the Oregon Department of Forestry, and the Wild Rivers Coast Forest Collaborative.
Hansen is an emeritus professor in Oregon State University’s Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. For more on sudden oak death, go here.
