Jordan Cove Land Use Hearing

The attempt by the Jordan Cove Energy Project to site an LNG (liquefied natural gas) export terminal on Coos Bay’s North Spit has generated numerous land use applications to the cities of Coos Bay and North Bend, and Coos County (as well as many state and federal filings).  What might be considered the main event—the application for a land use permit for the proposed site itself—is now in the central arena.  The Coos County Hearings Officer will conduct a public hearing on Application File Number HBCU-19-003, popularly known as “Omnibus 2,” at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, in the Coos County Courthouse Annex (the Owens Building, 225 N. Adams) in Coquille.

As the popular name would suggest, the application covers a wide range o;f issues, including a barge berth, shoreline stabilization, pile dike, dredge transport lines, the gas facility itself, and various other matters, all impact the Coos Bay estuary and falling under the Coos Bay Estuary Management Plan.  To see the application, go here.

Public testimony will be accepted.  Oregon Shores is submitting extensive testimony in opposition to the development.
