A rally will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21, 11 a.m. on the steps of the State Capitol building in Salem, demanding that Oregon reject the proposed Jordan Cove LNG export terminal and its associated pipeline. The rally is being organized by Power Past Fracked Gas (which is what the pipeline would be carrying) and a host of other conservation groups.
The purpose is to persuade Gov. Kate Brown, who has avoided taking a public stand, to block the Jordan Cove development. As the organizers state, “Governor Brown cannot claim to be a climate champion while remaining silent on a proposed fracked gas export project that would become Oregon's single largest climate polluter.”
Those attending are urged to wear red. More details may later appear on the rally’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/events/707921693058129/.
