Humpback Whale Talk
Karen Lohman, a graduate student in the Cetacean Conservation and Genomics Laboratory at Oregon State University, will be speak on "Where are the breeding grounds of the West Coast's humpback whales?" as part of the American Cetacean Society—Oregon Chapter’s speaker series. Her presentation takes place on Saturday, Jan. 18, 10 a.m. in the McEntee Meeting Room at the Newport Public Library (35 N.W. Nye St.). The event is free and open to the public.
Lohman is currently using population genetics and conservation genomics techniques to study humpback whales in the eastern North Pacific Ocean. She received a 2019 Student Travel & Research Grant from the ACS Oregon Chapter.
