Marine Reserves Workshop

The Nature Conservancy is hosting the Oregon Marine Reserves Size and Spacing Workshop in Corvallis on March 3-4. It takes place in the CH2M Hill Alumni Center (725 S.W. 26^th St.) in Corvallis.  The agenda and exact times have not yet been announced.  We will provide more details here when they are available.

Participation in the workshop is by invitation only, but it is also open to public observers to enable them to listen in on science and management experts discuss updates to the guidelines for reserve and MPA site and network design. Discussions will include what science has taught us about marine reserve design after nearly 10 years of protection of sites in Oregon and California. Discussions will also address how climate change may impact marine reserves and how design parameters could be modified to mitigate for these impacts.

It will also be possible to listen in through a remote connection so public observers don’t need to be present to listen and observe the proceedings. Connection information will be made available at a later date (watch this space).

For those who want to attend in person as observers, seating is limited at the workshop so registration is necessary. Registration is free, and even comes with meals.  To register, go here.
