Cancelled--Guided Naturalist Walk

Cancelled:  The following event has been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns and will be rescheduled for a later date, according to the organizers.

The Yaquina Birders & Naturalists are offering a guided “birds and blooms” walk through Yachats on Saturday, March 21, 9-11 a.m.  The event is free and open to all.  The walk will be led by Liz Holencik and Andreea Ghetie.

Meet at the parking lot for Smelt Sands State Recreation Area on Hwy 101 at the north end of Yachats.  Note that parking is limited so it would be ideal if participants can carpool.  During the walk Liz and Andreea will point out migrating shorebirds along the 804 trail.  Next will be a walk up the Ya’Xaik trail to search for songbirds and other forest birds including Varied Thrush.  The morning will end with a stroll through Gerdemann Garden where lots of camellias are in bloom and being visited by Rufous and Anna's hummingbirds.
