Lecture on Fairy Shrimp
The Oregon Institute of Marine Biology’s Spring 2020 Seminar Series has moved online. The public is welcome to sit in through Zoom at no cost.
On Friday, April 24, the series features a 1 p.m. talk from Terri Williams, a research associate professor at Trinity College (Hartford, Connecticut), speaking on “Adding segments one by one: a tale of posterior elongation in fairy shrimp.” Dr. Williams is a research professor whose goal is to engage students in lab research. With her students, she examines the diversity of arthropods (e.g., crustaceans and insects) and explores how embryonic development might have been modified during evolution to give rise to the many kinds of arthropods living today. She received her PhD from the University of Washington.
Most of the seminars in this series will be on Fridays at this time. The seminars in this series are free, but are password protected. For information, or to request the password, contact organizer Aaron Galloway, agallow3@uoregon.edu. Be sure to allow 24 hours’ notice.
