Webinar: Marine Reserves and CoastWatch
CoastWatch mile adopters monitor the entire Oregon shoreline, but the program pays special attention to the shores of Oregon’s five marine reserves, concentrating citizen science efforts there and seeking to build public awareness of and support for these protected areas through hands-on stewardship.
Join Jesse Jones, CoastWatch’s volunteer coordinator, for a virtual dive into Oregon's marine reserves: what are they, where are they, what lives there, and how can volunteers get involved? This webinar, open to all, takes place on Monday, June 8, 11 a.m.
Jesse will be joined by Margaret Minnick, outreach coordinator for Friends of Cape Falcon Marine Reserve; Tara Dubois, communications coordinator for the Cape Perpetua Area Collaborative; and other guests to be announced.
The particular goal of the webinar is to connect CoastWatchers with marine reserves adjacent to or near their mile, but the information about our marine reserves will be of interest to anyone who cares about Oregon’s ocean.
To join the webinar, contact Jesse Jones at jesse@oregonshores.org. You will be sent a link close to the date of the event. You don’t need a Zoom account of your own to participate.
