The North Coast Land Conservancy is sponsoring the first-ever Great Coastal Backyard Bird Count on Saturday, June 6, all day.

Everyone, from novice to expert, is invited to participate. Just step outside anywhere on the Oregon Coast and attempt to identify and count as many birds as you can see. There are no other rules. Spend as little as 15 minutes or most of the day. It could be a songbird at your feeder, or ducks in a wetland that you see through binoculars, or a raptor soaring high overhead: if you see it, it counts!

Report your sightings on a tally sheet at NCLCtrust.org/backyard-bird-count-2020, where you can find more details including bird checklists and suggestions for help identifying birds. NCLC will share the results online after the event.

The Great Coastal Backyard Bird Count is part of Get Outdoors Day, an annual statewide event organized by the Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts. More details are at oregonlandtrusts.org.
