The Southcoast Striders have resumed leading hikes, with new precautions.  Hikes require registration, and are limited to 15 people (although if there is enough demand, and additional hike leaders can be recruited, more can be accommodated with staggered start times).

This first post-coronavirus hike takes place on Sunday, June 14, beginning at 9 a.m.  This is a 2.5-mile, one-way trip from Cape Arago Point on the Arago Pack Trail to Simpson Reef (where there will be a stop to view wildlife (bring binoculars, if you have them), then along the Oregon Coast Trail to a point .25 miles south of Shore Acres Botanical Garden.  Those wishing to end their hike here need to arrive early (8:30 a.m.) to set a vehicle beside the road at this point. Those wanting a longer hike will cross the highway and take the Perimeter Trail and Arago Pack Trail back to Arago Point for a total of 7.5 miles.

Plan on two hours for the short hike and 3-4 hours for the longer one.  Restrooms can be found at the beginning and end of the long hike, and a short drive from the end of the short hike.  Pack a lunch to enjoy along the way or at the end.

Registration is essential.  To register, go here:  http://canopyweb.com/forms/index.html.
