The South Coast Striders are offering a hike to one of the coast’s most beautiful spots, Blacklock Point in Curry County.  The hike is limited to 15 people to allow for social distancing, but if enough people register and additional leaders can be recruited, more people can hike at staggered times.

The hike takes place on Sunday, June 28, beginning at 9:30 a.m.  Hikers will meet at Boice-Cope County Park, south of Bandon.

The 8.2 hike covers rugged terrain, from Floras Lake to Blacklock Point along the lake, and through wooded trails and exposed rocky points.  The trail is mostly level, although a portion is on sand.  The hike is out-and-back, so can be shortened simply by turning around.  Plan on 4-5 hours for the hike.  Dress in layers.  Note that there is a $5 day use fee at the park, and this is sometimes enforced for cards parked on the road.

To reach the park, turn west on Floras Lake Loop Road, about half a mile south of Langlois, and follow the signs.

Registration is essential.  To register, go to http://canopyweb.com/forms/index.html.
