Rocky Habitat Panel Discussion

Oregon’s Territorial Sea Plan: Part 3, also known as the Rocky Habitat Management Strategy, aims to balance human use and ecological conservation consistent with Oregon’s ocean resources statewide planning goal. For the first time in nearly 25 years, the strategy has gone through a multi-year, comprehensive update process to incorporate the most recent science and public input.  The state’s Ocean Policy Advisory Council will be considering “site designations”—areas afforded special levels of protection—proposed by the public this spring.  Another round of such site designation proposals will take place next fall.

The Hatfield Marine Science Center’s Science on Tap series offers an opportunity to learn more about this process with “Life on the Rocks:  Updating Oregon’s Rocky Habitat Strategy,” an online panel discussion on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 6 p.m.  The event is free and open to all.  For the duration of the pandemic, the “on tap” aspect of these sessions is up to you at home.
