Now that field trips, conducted cautiously, are possible again, CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator Jesse Jones invites volunteers and prospective volunteers to join her on Wednesday, March 17, at Cape Arago’s South Cove, CoastWatch Mile 116, beginning at 9 a.m.

Meet Jesse on the beach at the end of the South Cove trail.  Find the trailhead at the southernmost extension of the Cape Arago Highway, where it loops around the picnic area.  (The highway runs south from Charleston.)

Join Jesse and south coast CoastWatchers to discuss citizen science opportunities generally, and sea star observation opportunities specifically, in Coos County rocky habitats areas.  Pandemic safety protocols will be observed.  The intention is to limit the group to 10 people to facilitate distancing, so please RSVP if you plant to attend.

CoastWatch's work in providing information to south coast residents on rocky shore habitats and opportunities for volunteer engagement is supported by the City of Coos Bay, the Pacific Power Foundation, and the Oregon Parks Foundation Fund.

For more information or to register, contact Jesse Jones at (503) 989-7244, jesse@oregonshores.org.
